Pancake Day

Linda sorting out the batter

Linda Harkness and Michele Britton introduced students to the art of pancake making at our Shrove Tuesday / Pancake Day celebrations on 24 February.

Thumbs up for tasty Lenten treats

Around 80 Students scoffed pancakes with lemon and sugar, traditional British fare for Mardi Gras, the day before Lent. Students and staff were invited into the kitchen to ‘toss’ the pancakes, with varying degrees of success!

The Thursday Alternative

Do something different!

Friends flying off for the weekend?

Don't be stuck on your own, join in with others on the Thursday Alternative. Throughout the semester we'll be offering an event or activity on Thursday evening for those of you not travelling. Some weeks we'll have cut price tickets to some of the less well known London venues and shows, other times we'll take you on a trip to a part of London you haven't visited yet, perhaps we'll go out for a group meal if you're keen.

All events will be subsidised and our aim is to get you out and about in London, getting to know us a little, getting to mix with Londoners and getting to know each other. Keep a look out for notices on the website or on the notice board. Generally the group will be limited to around 15/20 students and places will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

So there's no excuse for getting into a rut even when you're not jetting off. Try something a little different, check out the Thursday Alternative!

Faraday TV & Film

Explore Britain through film

Faraday Film Club is a fun and casual way to learn a little bit more about London life and British culture through watching great British TV & films. Our aim is to expose students to excellent British TV and cinema with selections covering contemporary, classic, comedy, drama and everything in between. The film showings, which take place in the comfy student lounge of Faraday House, are followed by brief chats addressing themes, content, styles and cultural differences.

The club meets periodically throughout the semester on Wednesday evenings, and is headed up by Linda and Michele. Since each evening is self-contained, students should feel no pressure if they cannot attend all sessions. If you are interested but unavailable on Wednesday evenings, all films shown (and many others) are available for free rentals from the student life office.

For more information, please talk to Linda or Michele.

Oh, and we forgot to mention there's a ton of popcorn and a yummy spread of free food!

Faraday Football

Association Football

SU London has adopted two West London teams, Fulham Football Club and Queen's Park Rangers. Fulham Football Club is in the Premier League (and features American players!), Queen's Park Rangers is a local London side, beloved of SU London's own Peter Leuner.

Come and enjoy a slice of the action when home games are played: fixtures and a league table will be up on the 'Features' wall.

Cooking 101
